A car caught fire on Interstate 280 after a mechanical failure.

The following information was provided by the Santa Clara County Fire Department.
A mechanical failure caused a woman's Toyota Echo to catch fire on Interstate 280 on Wednesday at 8:05 a.m. There were no injuries and the car was on the side of the road when fire fighters arrived on the scene eight minutes later. The incident had cleared by 8:46. Total damage was around $6,000.
