Timeline: The Lehigh Shootings and Their Aftermath

Wednesday, Oct. 5
4:15 am. Fourteen employees were at a routine meeting at the Lehigh Southwest Cement Plant when suspect Shareef Allman, 47, who arrived late to the meeting, left the room, returned with a handgun . Allman left the room again and returned with an assault rifle and continued shooting. He killed three men, and injured seven others. Four escaped without any injuries.

7 a.m. Deputies believe Allman tried to carjack a woman in the parking lot of Hewlett-Packard at Homestead Road and Tantau Avenue and then shot her. He fled on food across Homestead into a Sunnyvale neighborhood.

Allman’s friends described him as a “loving father,” and by the shootings. The NAACP San Jose/Silicon Valley Branch as a “man amongst men” in an afternoon press conference.

In the afternoon, law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI, brought out an armed tank and  in the Sunnyvale neighborhood near Wolfe and Homestead Roads, as the manhunt for Allman continued.

5:30 p.m. Residents near theof Homestead Road in Sunnyvale were allowed to return to their homes.

Thursday, Oct. 6
Around 7 a.m. Thursday morning, Allman by three deputies after displaying a gun, and died. At the time, it was believed that the deputies killed Allman, although an autopsy report the following Monday revealed that Allman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Lehigh Hanson, which owns the Lehigh Southwest Cement Permanente Plant just outside Cupertino, that “the community is still very much in a state of shock.”

Saturday, Oct. 8
Shareef Allman’s family in a public letter. "We don't understand why this happened, and we truly wish that we could change the tragic events of this week,” they wrote.

Sunday, Oct. 9
More than 50 Good Samaritan Methodist Church members on Homestead Road to the Hewlett-Packard driveway in the evening to remember the victims of Wednesday’s shooting, and spread the message of love not fear.

An autopsy report released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s office said that Allman had .

Victim Manuel Pinon’s family through Mothers Against Murder, a Palo Alto nonprofit. Pinon’s wife has a brain tumor and relied on her husband for financial support. He had four children.

Almost 490 people, many strangers, poured in for the rosary services of Manuel Pinon in the evening.

Wednesday, Oct. 12
The funeral for Manuel Pinon was held at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Chapel in San Jose with, again, almost 500 people attending. Mourners were invited to speak about Pinon in front of the crowd. Anthony Castro, a longtime friend of Pinon's, told the story of how he met Pinon when they were kids. Another man spoke to the mourners in Spanish, and a woman stood and read a poem.
