This Week from the Los Altos Police Log: Oct. 8 - 13

It was a fairly quiet week in Los Altos.

Oct. 8 - 9: 

Major Injury Bicycle Accident

Oct. 8, 10:31 a.m., Foothill Expressway and Springer Road. Six bicyclists were biking on Foothill when the first bicyclist hit an object in the bike path, possibly a pine cone. He lost control of his bike, falling to the ground. The five bicyclists behind him were unable to stop and collided with the fallen cyclist. One cyclist suffered a laceration to the back of the head and was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City. The other five cyclists sustained abrasions and minor cuts and said they would seek medical help on their own.

Grand Theft

Oct. 9, 10:19 a.m., 130 block of S. El Monte Ave. A grand theft from an unlocked vehicle was reporter.

Oct. 11:

Solicitor

8:09 p.m., 1800 block of Grant Road. A solicitor was making himself or herself unwelcome at a residence and was refusing to leave. Officers reprimanded and released the solicitor.

Oct. 12: 

Fire Department Assist

6:59 p.m., 1300 block of Grant Road. An open fire in a parking lot was reported. The Fire Department contained the fire, while police admonished the persons responsible.

Oct. 13:

Welfare Checks

- 4:10 p.m., 4800 Block of El Camino Real; Officers responded to a report of a subject possibly intoxicated near Whole Foods Market. Officers found no one matching the description.

- 2:35 a.m., Oct. 14, 1700 Block of Selig Lane; Officers received a request to check on a subject someone believed may attempt suicide.
