This Week from the Los Altos Police Log: Nov. 23 - Dec. 1, Missing Gold Necklace

Thefts and minor injury accidents peppered this week's blotter.

The following is provided by the Los Altos Police Department. Mapped incidents reflect block number only to protect the privacy of residents. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate convictions. 

Gunshots 

Nov. 24, 7:40 p.m.; 2100 block of Sierra Ventura Drive; a resident heard around six or seven gunshots, said Sgt. John Korges. The police checked the area and were unable to locate. The residence is in the hillier part of Los Altos.

Embezzlement

Nov. 30, 9:08 a.m., 809 Fremont Avenue; a credit card and flat screen TV were taken from Los Altos Sub-Acute & Rehabilitation Center. No other information is available, as the case has been handed off to a detective, Korges said.

Grand theft

Dec. 1, 1000 block of Mercedes Ave, 8:42 p.m.; a gold omega necklace of unknown value went missing from a residence, Korges said. 

Theft

Nov. 26, 11:17 a.m., 100 block of Los Altos Avenue; cash and coins valued at $600 were taken from an apartment. There is no suspect information, Korges said. 

Identity theft

Nov. 28, 12 p.m., 1000 block of Riverside Drive; report taken.

Disturbances

Nov. 29, 1:06 a.m., 1600 block of Stevens Place; involved parties contacted, no crime.

Nov. 29, 6:21 p.m., 1500 block of Kensington Circle; subject failed to pay taxi cab fare, so the cab driver called the police. They arrived and made sure the individual paid the cabbie, said Korges.

Misdemeanor Warrant

Nov. 23, 10:33 a.m.; subject taken to jail.

Nov. 28, 12:35 p.m., W. El Camino Real and Grant Road, subject arrested and booked into jail.

DUI

Nov. 27, 1:59 a.m., Jardin Drive and Clark Avenue; arrest made. 

Residential burglary

Nov. 26, 1:35 p.m., 100 block of Cuesta Drive; report taken.

Vandalism

Nov. 23, 5:14 a.m., 100 block of W. Portola Avenue; cold report.

Drunk in public 

Nov. 23, 5:38 p.m., 1067 N. San Antonio Road; individual drunk at and arrested.

Loose rabbit

Nov. 27, 12:18 p.m., N. San Antonio Road and Mt. Hamilton Avenue; referred to animal control for pick-up.

Stolen biyclce

Nov. 23, 8:06 a.m. 1120 Covington Road; report taken.

Minor injury accidents

Nov. 29, 5:42 p.m., El Camino Real and San Antonio Road; report taken.

Nov. 29, 7:47 p.m., N. San Antonio Road and Arbuelo; report taken.

Nov. 30, 6:08 p.m., Foothill Expressway and Magdalena Avenue; report taken.

Non-injury accident

Nov. 29, 3:00 p.m., 200 block of Almond Avenue; happened on private property, caller did not request police assistance. 

Hit and run

Nov. 30, 8:05 a.m., N. San Antonio Road and Alvarado Avenue; no injuries, report taken. 

Auto burglary

Nov. 30, 10:28 a.m., 3488 El Camino Real; report taken.

Car on fire

The following information was provided by the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

A mechanical failure caused a woman's Toyota Echo to catch fire on Interstate 280 on Nov. 30 at 8:05 a.m. There were no injuries and the car was on the side of the road when fire fighters arrived on the scene eight minutes later. The incident had cleared by 8:46. Total damage was around $6,000.
