This Week from the Los Altos Police Log: Nov. 11-17, Smashed Windows, Bicyclist Injured

A stolen laptop, three smashed windows, DUIs, and auto burglaries kept the police busy this week.

The following is provided by the Los Altos Police Department. Mapped incidents reflect block number only to protect the privacy of residents. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate convictions. 

Grand theft

Nov. 16, 6:09 p.m., Wink Technologies, 5150 El Camino Real; backpack with a laptop taken from office building, report taken.

Vandalism

Nov. 14, 7:09 a.m., 1100 block of Buckingham Drive; two vehicles' windows were smashed, two reports taken.

Nov. 17, 8:01 a.m., 100 block of Formway Court; a tan Chevy's windows were smashed, report taken.

Drug-or-alcohol-related incidents

Nov. 13, 2:22 a.m., El Camino Real and Ortega Avenue; DUI arrest, vehicle towed.

Nov. 14, 1:56 a.m., El Camino Real and San Antonio Avenue; DUI arrest.

Nov. 14, 1:41 a.m., El Camino Real, Palo Alto; drunk in public, arrest made.

Nov. 15, 5:57 p.m., Mercedes Avenue and Loucks Avenue; DUI arrest.

Nov. 17, 3:57 p.m., Alford Avenue and Holt Avenue; health and safety violation, subject cited.

Auto burglaries

Nov. 14, 6:36 a.m., 1300 block of Oakhurst Avenue; report taken.

Nov. 14, 10:58 a.m., 600 block of Covington Road; report taken

Nov. 14, 11:12 p.m., 700 block of Berry Avenue; no report taken.

Nov. 17, 9:56 a.m., 1600 block of Austin Avenue; report taken.

Accidents

Nov. 12, 11:30 a.m., 2000 block of Deodara Drive; minor injury, officer assisted. 

Nov. 14, 3:05 p.m., N. San Antonio Road and Yerba Buena Avenue; a bicyclist was making a left turn when he broadsided a moving vehicle. Initially reported as a major injury but turned out to be a minor injury collision.

Nov. 15, 1:04 p.m., Fremont Avenue and S. Springer Road; major injury accident. A vehicle crashed into a tree, driver transported to hospital. Cause unavailable at this time. 

Nov. 15, 9:44 a.m., S. El Monte Avenue and Shirlynn Court; hit and run, no  injuries, report taken.

Nov. 15, 2:26 p.m., W. Edith Avenue and Los Altos Avenue; no injuries, no report, names exchanged.

Nov. 15, 6:03 p.m., N. Springer Road and Blinn Court; no  injuries, report taken.

Informal booking

Nov. 16, 4:06 p.m., police station; subject cited for warrant arrest and released.

Petty theft

Nov. 16, 4:42 p.m., 200 block of Almond Avenue; no report.

Suspicious circumstance

Nov. 16, 1:03 p.m., 600 block of Hollingsworth Drive; officer assisted.

Nov. 17, 7:06 p.m, 600 block of Coral Court; suspicious person, report taken.

Lost property

Nov. 17, 2:52 p.m., 200 Main Street; a purse was lost at Satura Cakes, report taken.
