This Week from the Los Altos Police Log: Dec. 16-22

Police were busy this week responding to annoying solicitors, gas leaf blower violations, grand theft, public drunkenness and a minor injury accident, among others.

 

The following is provided by the Los Altos Police Department. Mapped incidents reflect block number only to protect the privacy of residents. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate convictions.

Civil Issue

On Thursday, police responded to a call regarding a civil issue in the 900 block of Sherwood Avenue at 12:38 p.m. Officers assisted.

Solicitors

On Tuesday, there was a complaint of an annoying solicitor in the 300 block of Langston Avenue at 6:19 p.m. 

In additon, there were five other complaints of annoying solicitors on Friday, Dec. 16, between 2:45 and 8:40 p.m. Calls came from the 600 block of South Springer Road, the 600 block of Arboleda Drive, the 60 block of Chester Circle, the 1000 block of Golden Way, and the 1000 block of Dartmouth Lane. In two cases officers made contact with the solititors, but there were no warnings or arrests noted. Otherwise officers were unable to locate the solicitors by the time they arrived on the scene.

Parking Violations

There were a couple of reports of a parking violations. On Thursday, an officer responded to one of the reports at the 200 block of First Street at 9:39 a.m. A report was taken. Another officer responded the same day to a call at the 2000 block of Homestead Road at 12:08 p.m. It turned out there was no violation.

Gas Leaf Blower Violations

Police responded to a few calls regarding gas leaf blower violations. On Thursday, one occurred at the 20 block of Marvin Avenue at 9:16 a.m. An officer responded, which turned out to be an electric leaf blower that was in use. Another officer responded to a call the same day at the 800 block of Carnation Court at 2:24 p.m. The officer found there was no violation.

On Wednesday, an officer responded to a call of a gas leaf blower violation in the 100 block of S. Gordon Way at 12:11 p.m. Although no citation was issued, the officer admonished the subject.

Suspicious Circumstances

On Friday, police responded to a report about a suspicious circumstance at the 1000 block of Rosemont Avenue at 12:29 a.m. The police checked the area; it was cleared. No report was made.

Grand Theft 

On Wednesday, police responded to a grand theft call in the 1500 block of Oak Avenue at 12:45 p.m.  A report was taken.

Drunk in Public

On Wednesday, police responded to a complaint of a person who was drunk in public at the corner of El Camino Real and Jordan Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Police arrested the individual.

Accident

On Wednesday, an accident occurred at the corner of W. Edith and University Avenue at 12:32 p.m. Police took down a report for a minor injury accident.

Possible Drunk Driver

On Wednesday, police responded to a report about a possible drunk driver at S. El Monte Avenue and Foothill Expressway at 8:18 p.m. The police were unable to locate the driver. 

Disturbing the Peace

There were a couple of calls this week regarding reports of disturbing the peace. On Tuesday, an officer responded to a disturbance complaint at the 4000 block of El Camino Real at 2:51 p.m. The complaint involved an aggressive panhandler.  

On Monday, officers responded to a disturbance complaint at the corner of North San Antonio Road and Sevilla Drive at 2:51 p.m. The involved parties were contacted, and it was determined there was no crime.

Fraud

On Tuesday, a report on a fraud in progress was taken at the 1600 block of Parkhills Avenue at 8:38 p.m.

Abandoned Vehicle

On Tuesday, there was a report of an abandoned vehicle at the 2000 block of Friars Lane at 8:51 a.m. An officer called the owner. The vehicle was disabled and a tow truck was en route.

Felony Warrant Arrest

On Monday, police arrested a suspect on a felony warrant at the corner of Alvarado Avenue and San Antonio Road at 3:45 p.m. The suspect was booked into jail.

Misdemeanor Warrant

On Thursday, police responded to a call for a misdemeanor warrant at the corner of Foothill Expressway and Arastradero Road at 9:27 p.m. An officer cleared the citation arrest.

Warrant Service

On Tuesday, an officer attempted to arrest an individual on a warrant at the 600 block of S. El Monte Avenue at 9:37 a.m. The individual was not home.

Possible Residential Burglary

On Monday, a resident in the 1500 block of Clay Drive reported a possible residential burglary at 3:37 p.m., although it's possible the missing items were misplaced, not stolen. He told officers he would check and report back to them.

Noise Complaint

On Monday, someone complained about loud music in the 1600 block of Grant Road at 12:37 p.m. A warning was given.

Driving Without A License

On Monday, officers issued a citation to someone driving without a license near the corner of Grant Road and Estate Drive at 10:40 a.m.

Petty Theft

Officers made a citation arrest at a business in the 100 block of First Street, after a petty theft was reported on Friday, Dec. 16, just after 9 p.m.

Trip and Fall

Someone tripped and fell in the 100 block of East Edith Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 18, just before 3:30 p.m. Officers took a public accident report.

Malicious Mischief

A report of malicious mischief was taken by officers in the 400 block of University Avenue, on Friday, Dec 16 at 9:35 a.m.

Off Leash Dog

A call came in about an off leash dog in the 400 block of Rosita Avenue on Saturday, Dec. 17. Officers gave a warning to the owner.
