Bugaboo Stroller Theft, Scam and Fender-Benders, From the Police Log, May 15-17

Lock your car doors, look all ways when entering an intersection, don't leave your Bugaboo stroller next to your car overnight, and always have a find-my-phone app.

 

The following incidents are from the Los Altos Police log from Tuesday to Wednesday, May 15-16, 2012. When arrests are listed it does not mean there has been a conviction.

Theft

- 11:01 a.m., May 15; 1300 block of Sunrise Court; grand theft, cold report, grand theft from unlocked vehicle overnight, report taken. Camera and other equipment.

- 3:38 p.m., 2310 Homestead Road; Rite Aid store theft undefined; A group of people, two males and a female, were reported to have taken a home air-conditioning window unit; detectives are following up.

- 7:41 p.m., 201 Almond Ave, Los Altos High School, theft of cell phone, said Sgt. Cameron Shearer. Officers went to the location and recovered the phone; The individual did not want to press charges.

- 8:15 a.m., May 16, 400 block of Lassen Street; grand theft, cold report, report taken. The resident reported a black Bugaboo brand stroller she had left next to her car parked in the carport overnight, was taken.

Collisions

- 3:39 p.m., May 15; Casita Way and Jardin Drive; accident, no injuries, property damage only, officers assisted with names exchange.

- 6:231 p.m., Springer Road and Foothill Expressway, accident, no injuries; non-traffic accident, officer assisted with names exchange.

- 3:36 p.m., May 16; S. Springer Road and Cuesta Drive; non-injury accident, officers assisted.

- 3:16 a.m., May 17; 700 block of Los Altos Avenue; hit-and-run accident, no injuries, information only.

Reckless Drivers

- 8:21 a.m., May 15; El Camino Real and San Antonio Road; reckless driver reported, officers checked the area and were unable to locate.

- 6:09 p.m., May 16; San Luis and Amador avenues; reckless driver reported, police responded, unable to locate

Disturbance

- 10:13 a.m., May 15; N. San Antonio Real and El Camino Real; disturbing the peace, gone on officer's arrival.

Vehicles

- 1:05 p.m., May 15; Foothill Expressway and Homestead Road, abandoned vehicle, towed.

- 1:36 p.m., 4800 El Camino Real; parking violation complaint, unfounded.

Suspended License

2:40 p.m., May 15; Fremont Avenue and Lisa Lane; Driving on a suspended license; Officers made vehicle stop for a violation, and found driver Adam Ganser, 25, was driving on a suspended license; he was cited and released, vehicle impounded for 30 days.

Lost/Found Property

- 5:13 p.m., May 15; 1800 block of Alford Avenue; lost property report, information only. The resident had lost a SIM card for his or her phone; report taken.

- 7:08 p.m., May 16; 500 block of Almond Avenue; found property, officers unable to locate. The caller reported her grandchildren playing at Almond School, had found a bag of paraphernalia. The property was gone when reporting party took the officer to the location.

Possible Scam report 

- 7:48 p.m., May 15; 00 block of Del Monte Avenue; citizen requesting contact regarding possible scam. A caller informed a resident that he had won the lottery and a car, and instructed him to go to Western Union at the Safeway store on First Street and send money related to the claims process. "Most of our senior citizens are pretty sharp and don't give them money," said Sgt. Cameron Shearer. This one didn't, either, he added.
