The Week in Los Altos Crime: A Battery and a Burglary
A case of elder abuse, petty thefts, and traffic accidents top the list of incidents reported by Los Altos police between June 17 and June 23.
Los Altos Police reported a case of elder abuse, a commercial burglary and eight minor injury and non-injury traffic accidents, in the incidents on its log between June 17 and June 23.
Police responded to an incident of battery involving an elderly person Monday at 6:41 a.m. from an address on Andover Way. That case is still under investigation, and no further information was available according to police spokesman, Chris Fowlie.
A case of grand theft was reported Wednesday afternoon from a residence on Los Altos Square. Fowlie said an estimated $9,000 worth of flatware and jewelry was taken. That case is also under investigation.

A commercial burglary attempt was reported last Sunday at 8:50 p.m. on El Camino Real, at a site where a night club is under construction, Fowlie said. The suspect or suspects attempted to gain entry by smashing a glass window, but apparently were scared off when the property owner arrived on site. There are no reports of loss other than damages property damages related to the incident.
A series of petty thefts was reported at the start of the period last weekend; two last Friday morning on Almond Avenue and Solana Drive; another early evening the same day on Doud Drive and Sunday morning on Panchita Way.

Three minor injury and five non-injury accidents were also reported.
There was a minor injury accident at South Springer Road and Paco Drive Monday at 1:10 p.m.
A minor injury accident was reported Tuesday at 8:27 p.m. at the intersection of El Camino Real and Jordan Avenue.
A minor injury accident occurred Monday at 9:28 a.m. at the intersection of Foothill Expressway and Homestead Road. A non-injury accident was reported at the same intersection 11 hours earlier late Sunday night.
A non-injury accident was reported on First Street Friday night and another Saturday afternoon at the intersection of S. San Antonio Road and Cuesta Drive. There was also a non-injury accident on Fremont Avenue and South Springer Road about 10 p.m. Monday.
The last reported accident of the period was Thursday at 11:12 a.m. when a non-injury accident occurred on State Street.
