The California Highway Patrol arrested David NNamdi Ezeogu, 27, of Millbrae, at Stanford University Hospital, where he had been taken after sustaining major injuries in the collision, said CHP Public Information Officer Arturo Montiel.

Montiel said it appeared that about 8:30 p.m., a Honda motorcycle operated by Ezeogu, and carrying passenger Rajinta Singh, 21, was traveling at a high rate of speed on southbound I-280, south of Trousdale Drive. The motorcycle was in the No. 3 lane when it hit with the right rear end of a Subaru car that was also traveling southbound on I-280 in the No. 3 lane, at a slower speed.

Ezeogu then swerved to the right and collided with the left rear end of a Toyota that was traveling in the No. 4 lane and to the front right of the Subaru, Montiel said. The impact caused Ezeogu to lose control of the Honda and both Ezeogu and his passenger were ejected from the Honda.

Ezeogu was taken to Stanford University Hospital with major injuries. Ezeogu's passenger, Singh, was also transported to Stanford University Hospital for minor injuries, a complaint of pain and scrapes.

Ezeogu was arrested at Stanford University Hospital for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury to another person

The collision is under investigation. If there are any witnesses to this collision, the CHP asks them to contact Officer J. Watson at (650) 369-6261
