Sexual Assault, Attempted Robbery Suspect Sought by Police

Campbell police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who is suspected of sexual assault and attempted robbery during an incident on Thursday.

A woman was walking on Sunnyoaks Avenue near Winchester Boulevard where the suspect grabbed her from behind and forced her behind a car around 12:35 a.m., police said.

The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her but the victim burned the left side of his face with a cigarette, according to police.

The suspect may have injuries from the burn, police said.

The man then pulled out a handgun and threatened the victim but she fled before he could rob her, police said.

The victim located a passerby who ran after the suspect but was unsuccessful in the chase, according to police.

The suspect was last seen running northbound in an alleyway on Sobrato Drive, police said.
