Police Calls: Stolen Bikes; DUI Arrests; Strawberry Sales

Incidents of note from the Los Altos Police log June 1-8

At 10:48 a.m. June 1 officers were dispatched to a report of a suspected trespasser on the 4900 Block of El Camino Real. Officers spoke with the person, who agreed to move on. At 2:58 p.m. police responded to a call about an auto burglary on the 1900 Block of Grant Road. A report was taken by the officer. Later that day, at 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle on the 100 Block of West Portola Ave. A petty theft report was taken by the officer.

On June 2 another report of a stolen bicycle came in from the 1700 Block of Penny Way at 4:18 p.m. The bicycle was a pricy high-end model. A grand theft report was taken by the officer.

Police were dispatched to a report of a hit-and-run accident at N. San Antonio Road and Coronado Avenue at 9:45 p.m. June 3. There were no injuries. A report was taken.

At 5:24 p.m. June 4 police responded to a report about suspicious circumstances on the 1900 Block of Alford Ave. Officers talked with the parties involved and determined that no crime had taken place. No report was taken.

Police arrested a subject from a prior case at 12:26 p.m. June 5 at W. El Camino Real and El Monte Ave. The subject was booked into the main jail. Later that day a report of an abandoned vehicle at Queensbury Avenue and Wakefield Terrace came in at 2:42 p.m.  Police contacted the owner of the vehicle to expedite its removal. A complaint about a person selling strawberries alongside the road at Miramonte and Portland avenues came in at 4:32 p.m. Officers reprimanded and released the person.

Police arrested a suspected drunken driver at Foothill Expressway and El Monte Avenue at 9:53 p.m. June 5.

At 8:57 a.m. June 6 police made traffic stop at Plaza North and Second Street. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

A motorist was cited and released for driving with a suspended license at 7:24 a.m. June 7 at S. San Antonio Road and Hillview Ave. Later that day another driving under the influence case came at 9:50 p.m.  Police in that case cited and arrested a motorist at Foothill Expressway and Magdalena Avenue.

The rest of the reports involved miscellaneous items and crimes. Among them:

  • General disturbance – St. Joseph and Granger avenues
  • Recovered stolen vehicle – 100 Block of Hamilton Court
  • Gun destruction – 400 Block of Becker Lane
  • Noisy animal (barking dog) – 400 Block of Rosita Ave.
  • Traffic hazard (mattress in roadway) – S. Springer Road and Camelia Way
