Police Calls: Bad Check Writers Arrested—At Chevron

The Los Altos Police log for Mar. 4-5 reflects a lot of activity, from an influx of solicitors, a burglary, and a stolen car to a misdemeanor warrant arrest. And yes, towing is back at Foothill Crossing.

 

The Los Altos Police log for March 4-5, doesn't reflect the guns-drawn drama, but Los Altos Patch had a couple of reports from readers about how the police took into custody two suspects in a fraudulent check incident that started at Bank of America, and ended at the Chevron Station at First and Main streets.

Gas Leaf Blower

  • 11:51 a.m., Mar. 4, 2000 block of Crist Drive; gas leaf blower violation, unable to locate
  • 8:37 a.m., Mar. 5, 1800 block of Grant Park Lane; leaf blower complaint, officer responded, reprimanded and released
  • 8:54 a.m., 2000 block of Crist Drive; gas leaf blower complaint, officer responded, reprimanded and released.

  • 12:24 p.m., Mar. 4, 600 block of Riviera Drive; suspicious vehicle, officers responded to the area, and determined to be unfounded – telephone book delivery person

Solicitor

  • 1:24 p.m., Mar. 4, Granger Avenue & St. Joseph Avenue; solicitors in the area, subjects contacted and reprimanded and released
  • 4:50 p.m., N. El Monte Avenue & Mayer Court; possible unlicensed solicitor, warning given
  • 2:22 p.m., Mar. 5, 1200 block of Patlen Drive; report of solicitors in the area, officers responded and made contact, reprimand and release

Offenses by phone or computer

  • 4:54 p.m., Mar. 4, 300 block of Edith Avenue; harassing computer use, no report

Fraud

  • 5:11 p.m., Mar. 4, 200 block of S. San Antonio Road; fraud in progress, officers responded, subjects arrested. Sgt. Mark Bautista said police received a call from Bank of America that suspects were trying to pass bad checks. The suspects left, but police located them at the Chevron Station at Main Street and First Street. Police, with guns drawn, arrested the two suspects. 

Gunshots Heard

  • 6:48 p.m., Mar. 4, 911, 1200 block of Montclaire Way; possible gunshots heard, officer responded, quiet on arrival and departure

Driving Without a License

  • 9:47 p.m., Mar. 4, Rengstorff Avenue & El Camino Real; driving without a license, citation issued

Health & Safety Violation

  • 3:16 a.m., Mar. 4, S. Springer Road and Berry Avenue; possession of a controlled substance, subject arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Missing Person

  • 11:58 a.m., Mar. 5, 1 N. San Antonio Road; missing person report taken

Burglary

  • 12:12 p.m., Mar. 5, 911, 300 block of Cuesta Road; residential burglary, officers responded, report taken

Misdemeanor Warrant

  • 1:45 p.m., Mar. 5, 1400 block of Elnora Court, misdemeanor warrant arrest

Stolen Vehicle

  • 3:17 p.m, Mar. 5, walk-in, 1700 block of Holt Avenue; stolen vehicle cold report, report taken

Noise

  • 3:36 p.m., Mar. 5, 1200 block of Montclaire Way; noise complaint, officers responded and made contact, information only

Theft

  • 8:19 p.m., Mar. 5, 700 block of University Avenue; petty theft cold report, report taken

Collision

  • 10:52 p.m., Mar. 5, Magdalena Avenue & I-280; traffic collision, property damage only, referred to Highway Patrol
