Los Gatos Bicyclist Killed in Truckee

Robert Koechlin Jr., 45, died after collision with car Saturday morning.

A Los Gatos bicyclist died Saturday during an accident with a car in Truckee, a city about 226 miles northeast of town.

According to a press release from the Truckee Police Department, officers and firefighters were dispatched to the McIvers Roundabout at Donner Pass Road where they found several citizens performing first aid on the bicyclist.

Killed was Robert Koechlin Jr., 45, who was transported to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, where he was pronounced dead.

Truckee police is continuing its investigation of the incident and interviewing witnesses.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, the release stated.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Sgt. Bob Womack with the Truckee Police Department at 530-550-2335.

Robert was an incredible father, husband and friend. This is such a tragic accident. He will be missed dearly.
