Los Altos Police Blotter March 11 - 17

Five non-injury or minor injury accidents, one stolen vehicle, two misdemeanor citation arrests, and the tagging of two abandoned vehicles are among the incidents reported by the Los Altos Police Department this week.

Five non-injury or minor injury accidents, one stolen vehicle, two misdemeanor citation arrests, and the finding of two abandoned vehicles  are among the incidents reported by the Los Altos Police Department during the period covered in this week's Los Altos Patch police report.

Two non-injury accidents were reported March 15. The first was on Foothill Boulevard at 8:37 a.m.  The second occurred on El Camino Real at 11:50 a.m. A  hit-and-run accident occurred at the intersection of South Springer Road and Foothill Expressway on March 11 at 10:50 a.m.  No injuries were reported.

The period covered here concluded with two more accident reports, one involving a minor injury. The non-injury accident occurred March 17 at 10 p.m. on Fremont Avenue. The minor injury accident was reported March 18 at 5 a.m., but occurred within the jurisdiction of Mountain View Police.

A 1990s Volkswagen was reported stolen from a residence on Paco Drive about 8:20 a.m. on March 11. That car was recovered later in the week on Marshall Court in south Los Altos, police said.

An abandoned vehicle was tagged March 13 at 3:6 p.m. near the intersection of Sheridan St. and University Ave. Another abandoned vehicle was reported March 17 on Oakhurst Ave. at 4:03 p.m.

Police made two misdemeanor arrests during traffic stops. A motorist was cited and released on North San Antonio Road and Angela Drive on March 15 at 2:39 p.m. Another motorist was found  to be driving on a suspended license March 17 at 9:39 p.m. at the intersection of El Camino Real and El Camino Way in Palo Alto.

A third individual was reprimanded for trasspassing following an incident on El Camino Real about 10:20 p.m. March 15.

Two animal incidents were reported March 16. Police took information about a vicious dog on North El Monte Ave. shortly after 11 a.m.  About two hours later on Parma Way, an individual was bitten by a dog.

Police were called to a residence on Homestead Court about 10 p.m. March 14, when an emotionally impaired  23-year-old woman there began attacking members of her family, according to the police report. Police committed the young woman to a treatment facility for a 72-hour period as permitted by law after an on-scene assessment, according to spokesman Sgt. Scott Bunch.

Police were also called to assist an elderly person who fell while at home on El Camino Real and Showers Drive in the early morning hours of March 15. That incident was referred to the Fire Department for further handling.

A case of identity theft was reported March 11 at 4:57 p.m. There was also a report of a group of people smoking marijuana at the intersection of Via del Pozo and Margarita Court on March 11 at 5:26 p.m. But when police arrived on the scene there, they were unable to locate anyone.

Police reported an auto burglary attempt near Los Altos High School at 12:54 a.m. on March 12, but nothing was reported taken.

There was at least one incident of a possible gas leaf blower violation on Highlands Circle on March 17 at 10:25 a.m.  Police responded and advised those involved about the municipal code.
