The Week in Crime in Los Altos: Five Arrests and Car Burglaries Persist Early in the Week

Minor or non-injury traffic accidents also top the list of incidents reported by Los Altos police during the perriod of May 21 to 26.

Los Altos Police made five arrests in the past week, during the period between May 20 and May 26.

The first came in the wee hours of Monday morning, May 23. A man was arrested when he was intercepted, allegedly trying to burglarize a car on Oxford Drive at 1:39 a.m. Monday, according to Los Altos Police Sgt. Scott Bunch. He identified the suspect as  Noel Davila, 18, of East Palo Alto, who was charged with auto burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

A day earlier,  four petty thefts from parked vehicles in one neighborhood within a period of less than a half hour. Three of the vehicles were parked on Lyell Street; the fourth was on Eleanor Drive. Small electronic devices were taken from the unlocked cars, Bunch said.

Two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence — a man and a woman in separate incidents.

A 49-year-old Los Altos man was arrested after a traffic stop last Sunday at Pine Lane and Los Altos Avenue, according to Bunch. On Thursday, a 24-year-old Palo Alto woman was issued a citation arrest for driving under the influence after she was stopped at the intersection of West Portola Avenue and N. San Antonio Road at 2:10 a.m., Thursday, Bunch said.

Another man was arrested for being drunk in public on at 12:57 a.m. Monday on N. San Antonio Road. The 27-year-old was from Malibu.

Later in the week, two women were arrested for identical violations.

He said a 53-year-old Mountain View woman was taken into custody for being drunk in public. She was arrested Thursday at 11:32 p.m. near El Camino Real and N. San Antonio Road.

There were at least 12 non-injury or minor-injury automobile accidents reported during the period. 

A man in his 40s suffered minor injuries last Saturday evening in a single vehicle incident when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and ran into a tree, police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of Foothill Expressway and Loyola Drive.

Two other accidents were reported the same day; a non-injury accident at 10:4o a.m. at the intersection of Angela Court and Gordon Way; and another at  at 10:40 a.m. Foothill Expressway and El Monte Avenue at 1:24 p.m..

Five accidents were reported Thursday; two with minor injuries. The accidents occurred at El Camino Real and Distel Drive at 7:12 p.m.; Fremont Ave. and Fallen Leaf Lane at 6:19 p.m.; El Camino Real and Showers Drive, at 2 p.m; at Foothille Expressway and Edith Ave. at 12:12 p.m. and at Truman Ave. and Elmhurst Drive, at  7:59 a.m.

Four other non-injury accidents were reported at El Camino Real and Jordan Avenue Monday morning; on Marinovich Way at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday and another accident about three hours later at the intersection of South San Antonio Road and Hillview Avenue and one Wednesday at S. San Antonio Road and Lyell Street at 8:07 p.m.
