Los Altos Police Blotter: DUI Arrests and Disturbances

Two arrests for driving under the influence, five disturbances and seven non-injury traffic accidents were reported by Los Altos police for the period between June 3 and June 9.

It was a relatively quiet week for Los Altos police, with two arrests for driving under the influence, five disturbances and seven non-injury traffic accidents reported  for the period between June 3 and June 9.

An incident first reported as a non-injury hit and run Tuesday at 7:48 p.m. on Grant Road and Waverly Place, ended with the driver being arrested and charged in connection with the accident and for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The 29-year-old man was from  Mountain View, Police Captain Andy Galea said.

A second motorist was arrested for driving under the influence shortly before 4 a.m. Friday.

There were an unusual number of disturbances reported last weekend, although none ended with arrests or reprimands. There were three incidents last Friday, June 3; a verbal dispute over a cell phone on Arbuelo Way; a family disturbance on North Avalon Drive, and a noise complaint on El Camino Real.

Two more reports were filed Saturday, June 4; on Morton Avenue about 9:50 p.m., because of loud music and another disturbance earlier in the day on Springer Terrace.

Police were able to resolve all incidents.

A case of identity theft was reported Tuesday morning in connection with the unauthorized use of a credit card.

Seven other traffic accidents were reported; two on El Camino Real June 3; another on El Camino Real and Distel Drive Monday; three Tuesday on S. El Monte Ave. and Woodstock Lane, Loucks Avenue and San Antonio Road, and Foothill Expressway and South Springer Road.  One accident occurred Thursday night at the intersection of Fremont Avenue and "A" Street.

There was one case of petty theft when a bicycle was reported stolen Monday from Los Altos High School.

Police received one gun brought in for destruction from a residence on Stanley Avenue Monday and ammunition handed over for the same purpose from a home on Raymond Avenue Tuesday.

Police also issued a citation for possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Oakhurt Avenue Thursday.
