Los Altos Motorcyclist Killed on 101 is Identified

The CHP asks for anyone who witnessed the Saturday evening crash to contact its Redwood City office.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has identified a
man killed in a motorcycle crash in East Palo Alto Friday night as Jingfu Chen, 59, of Los Altos.         

Chen was traveling on southbound U.S. Highway 101 at about 7:45
p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed near University Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A green 2000 Toyota Corolla, which was driven by a 32-year-old Hayward man, struck the bike after it went down, the CHP said.

Chen was taken to Stanford Medical Center where he was pronounced
dead at 8:30 p.m.


It has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor
in the crash, the CHP said in a press release.
