Two lanes have reopened on southbound U.S. Highway 101 at Tully Road in San Jose after the California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert as emergency crews respond to a crash that caused major injuries.
Traffic was passing through the stretch of highway around the scene of the crash after all lanes were briefly closed, according to the CHP.
Traffic was clogged as motorists heading southbound on Highway 101 behind the scene of the crash were being diverted off of the freeway at Tully Road, according to the CHP. The CHP issued a Sig-Alert at 1:11 a.m.
The crash involving multiple vehicles was reported around 12:45 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 near the Tully Road off-ramp, according to the CHP.
One or more people involved in the collision suffered serious injuries.
Three lanes around the scene of the crash are blocked and motorists are being diverted at Tully Road, according to the CHP.
