Gunshots? No, Paintball! Plus Other Tales From the Police Log

A small fire from a live wire, some minor collisions, and thefts from vehicles, among other incidents, appear on Wednesday and Thursday's Los Altos Police log.

 

Alarms 

- 8:07 a.m., May 8: 500 block of Benvenue, panic alarm, residential duress alarm, officers made contact at residence and determined user error.

- 11:48 a.m.: 4700 El Camino Real, 211 alarm; commercial hold-up alarm, cancelled by alarm company, technician error. 

- 12:56 p.m.:1200 block of Stanwirth Ct, residential burglary alarm; officers checked premise, no sign of break-in, possible alarm malfunction.

- 2:29 p.m.: 1500 block of Morton Avenue, residential alarm, cancelled prior to police arrival.

- 9:28 a.m., May 9: 800 block Sherwood Ave.; panic alarm, commercial alarm officer responded and determined to be user error.

- 12:01 p.m., 700 block of Vera Cruz Avenue; residential alarm, officers confirmed user error.

Sex Registrant

- 8:47 a.m., May 8: 900 block of Parma Way, sex registrant making yearly registration to required to stay in compliance. 

Theft

- 11:40 a.m., May 8: Mohr Clocks, 4856 of El Camino Real, grand theft cold report; grand theft ($950+) from an unlocked vehicle sometime between Saturday evening and Tuesday morning, miscellaneous items and tools missing, report taken. 

- 3:09 p.m.: 4460 El Camino Real; petty theft, cold report; hotel guest reports her wallet went missing between 7 a.m. and noon, possibly taken from her hotel room. 

- 1:03 p.m., Los Altos High School; Grand theft, cold report, report taken. 

Citation

- 12:32 p.m., May 8: 1000 block of Fremont Avenue, driving with a suspended license, citation issued.

Noise

- 1:28 p.m., May 8: 1700 block of Marshall Ct., Gunshots heard by neighbor who saw a man in neighboring back yard with a gun; officers contacted involved parties and determined it was a subject with a paint ball gun; subject said contents were old and he was emptying it. Information only.

- 10:53 p.m.: 400 block of Pine Lane, loud music complaint, contact made, music turned down. 

Collision

- 1:40 p.m., May 8: Grant Road and Fremont Avenue; accident, no injuries; officers responded and assisted, no report.

- 6:43 p.m.: 700 block of Jordan Avenue; accident, hit-and-run collision, no injuries, officer made contact, reporting party said his parked vehicle appeared  damaged by unknown party. No report at this time.

Live wire

- 2:22 p.m., May 8; 240 Third Street; wire down in the street, report of live power lines down and on fire, police and fire department responded.

Disturbance

- 2:54 p.m., May 8: 600 block of Hollingsworth Drive; verbal disturbance, family altercation - officers responded, no crime, assistance rendered. 

- 6:24 p.m., May 9: 600 block of Hollingsworth Drive;  verbal disturbance, family altercation - officers assisted.
