From the Los Altos Police Log: DUIs and 11 Accidents, July 8-14

A drug-related citation arrest also tops the list of incidents reported by Los Altos police.

Three arrests for driving under the influence, a drug-related citation arrest and and 11 traffic accidents top the list of incidents reported by Los Altos police for the period between July 8 and 14.

A young man was cited for having drug paraphenalia following a disturbance on Anderson Drive shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Drug dogs sniffed out the apparatus, according to Sgt. John Korges.

In another incident, a minor incident of arson was reported at an address on Covington Road. A burned sofa was found onsite, but Korges said it was unclear if the piece of furniture belonged on the premises or had been set on fire elsewhere and brought there, Korges said.

Three motorists stopped for driving under the influence during this period were arrested. The incidents occurred last Friday, July 8 on San Antonio Road and Edith Avenue; early Sunday morning at the intersection of El Camino Real and Rengstorff Avenue and Friday morning at the intersection of Sherwood Lane and San Antonio Road.

Two people were stopped by police for being drunk in public last Saturday, the weekend of the Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival. In both cases, police provided assistance, but made no arrests. The first incident occurred on Third and Main Streets at 6:17 p.m.; the second, two hours later where Main Street intersections with First.

Eleven non-injury or minor-injury traffic accidents were also reported during this period.

The first occurred last Friday at 8:41 a.m., at the intersection of Del Monte and Mercedes Avenues.  That same day, another accident was reported on Berry and Miramonte Avenues shortly after 5 p.m.

Two more accidents occcurred the next day; one on Holt Avenue at 10:05 a.m. and the other at the intersection of Camino Real and Showers Drive about 4:30 p.m.

Three accidents occurred Sunday; the first was a minor injury accident at 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Camino Real and Los Altos Avenue; a non-injury accident followed two hours later at Plaza South and San Antonio Road; and a third minor injury accident at 5:40 p.m. at South Springer Road and Cuesta Drive.

Four more accidents were reported; two Tuesday at Grant Road and Fathwick Drive at 8:21 a.m., and six hours later at North Plaza and Fourth Street, and Thursday at 6:36 p.m., at St. Joseph Avenue and Foothill Expressway and a few hours earlier on Showers Drive and El Camino Real.
