For the third time in recent weeks, a suspect robbed a downtown Los Altos bank Wednesday morning.

Dressed in a black hoodie and black mask, the man displayed a black handgun when he demanded money from bank employees. He placed the money into a brown paper bag with unknown writing on the sides, according to Thomsen. He fled the bank on foot and was last seen going into a nearby vacant building.

It is not known where he went after that, but he apparently left some money behind. The Town Crier reported that its director of ad service happened to be passing by when she spotted paper money blowing about on Third Street , and stopped to collect about $120 in $10 denominations and brought it to the bank.

The suspect was described as a white male, 25 to 30 yrs old, 5'6" to 5'8", thin to medium build, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black mask covering part of his face, light colored pants, and gloves.

This was the third robbery since February. Bank of the West was robbed twice, on Feb. 11 and March 1 by two different suspects.
