Why go: Check out this showcase of films reflecting stories, hopes and dreams of Africa, as part of the Silicon Valley African Film Festival. The weekend, put on by Oriki Theater, features African drumming and dance performances, theme parties and an awards ceremony.

2. HARVEST CRAFT FAIR
Where/When: , 655 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go: Support local charities by checking out hand-crafted items at the Harvest Craft Fair this weekend. Refreshments will be provided. Benefits local charities. Sponsored by Los Altos United Methodist Women.

Where/When: , Gilman Ave. & E. Campbell Ave., Campbell; Saturday, 8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. race
Why go: Run through Campbell Park and alongside the Los Gatos Creek Trail with a crowd of orange pumpkins at this event sponsored by the City of Campbell Recreation Department. Start on the corner of Gilman and Campbell avenues. T-shirts $10, unless you pre-register here.

4. ZUMBATHON PARTY IN PINK
Where/When: Fairtex Muay Thai Fitness Gym, 2044 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View; Saturday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Why go: Support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and dance with instructors from Fairtex Muay Thai Fitness. It's a good cause, a great workout, and a fun afternoon event!

Why go: Sunday Arts Live 2011 is part of a series that is being presented by Arts Action 21 and Contemporary Asian Theater Scene in celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month. See the Marimo-Kai Koto Ensemble, the Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra, the Abhinaya Dance Company of San Jose and Los Lupenos de San Jose.
