Could the 95th Annual Veterans Day Parade Be the Last?

The parade is meant to honor veterans from all over Santa Clara County--but does Santa Clara County care?

Written by Sheila Sanchez

Monday is Veterans Day, a national holiday to pay tribute to our military personnel serving or who have served in armed conflicts.

The Santa Clara County United Veterans Council will present its 95th annual Veterans Day parade in downtown San Jose at noon.

An opening ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at Plaza de Cesar Chavez and Air Force Gen. Simon P. Worden, director of the NASA Ames Space Center, will serve as grand marshal.

The South Bay Blue Star Moms will be marching in the parade alongside a military Humvee armed with stars, flags, banners and pictures of their loved ones serving our country.

As in years past, the parade is sponsored by the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County, with support from the city of San Jose and Santa Clara County.

United Veterans Council leaders are hoping the public will support the event with financial donations as it could cease due to lack of support from the community.
