Silicon Valley Girls Planning to Serve in Guatemalan Orphanage

These girls plan to work in an orphanage next summer.

Los Gatos resident Megan Johnson and two of her friends are raising money through the crowdfunding website GoFundMe.com to spend two weeks during their summer vacation doing service work at an orphanage in Guatemala.

So far they've raised $350, but their goal is $4,000.

On their GoFundMe website page, Johnson writes that the money will help them pay for their transportation and fees related to their service through the International Volunteer HQ program.

Each year, Johnson said, the program places thousands of volunteers in Third World countries to help the poor.
