Weekend Planner: Summer Concerts And Avenue Q

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop gets your weekend going strong, aided by Farmers market bounty and entertainment all weekend if you take in Avenue Q.

The elementary and middle schools let out this week, and so let Los Altos' summer really begin—with the first free concert of the summer season!

There's a double treat this weekend, with a concert on Thursday and Saturday, both 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Hillview Soccer Field.

Thursday

  • The Downtown Farmers Market opens 4 to 8 p.m. on State Street. Pick up some freshly cooked goodies here and head across the street to Hillview for the concert. (And, once again, if you are downtown Thursday afternoon, don't leave your car on State Street past 2 p.m. or it will get towed!)
  • Michael Jackson tribute band, "Foreverland," gets the concert series moving at the Hillview Soccer Field 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Saturday

  • The Peninsula Symphony makes its annual evening appearance at the Hillview Soccer Field

Sunday

  • "Avenue Q" continues its successful run, so come out and see this sassy Los Altos Stage Company production at the Bus Barn Theater—if you can. When we checked, Sunday had exactly two tickets left, far apart. Buy for next week, since there is scattered availability of seats in the closing days of the play, June 19, 20 and 21 and 22.
