This week, we bring you five great summer camps taking place in or near Los Altos this year.

1. Multi-Sport Camp: June 13-17

Run By: Skyhawk, in partnership with the Town of Los Altos Hills Parks & Recreation

Ages: 7-12

Price: $165 residents / $179 nonresidents

In this multi-sport camp, instructors combine two or three sport—such as soccer, baseball and basketball—into one fun-filled week. Boys and girls will learn the rules and essential skills of each sport, along with vital life lessons such as respect and teamwork.

 

2. Pacific Coast Kids Camps: June 20-Aug. 1

Run By: Pacific Coast Kids

Ages: Kids entering grades K-5

Price: Various camps average $299-$359/week

Pacific Coast Kids offers camps in a variety of subjects such as Young Scientist, Jewelry & Fashion Design and even LEGO Mania! Camp days are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Post-Care is available from 3-5:30 p.m. for an additional $70-80/week. Earn discounts by signing your child up for multiple weeks, or for signing up siblings. Camps are held at Walter Hays Elementary, 1525 Middlefield Rd. in nearby Palo Alto.

 

3. Camp Galileo: June 13-July 29

Run By: Galileo Learning

Ages: Pre-K to fifth grade

Price: Sliding scale depending on how many weeks you sign up for, such as $399 for one week to $1,496 for four weeks without extended care; or $519 for one week to $1,736 for four weeks with extended care.

Every day at Camp Galileo is different. One day you’re playing waterball, the next you’re making lanyards in arts and crafts class. The day after that it’s science investigations, and the next, it’s silly songs and Stars Wars. Camp days are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with extended care from 8-9 a.m. and 3-5:30 p.m. available. Camp takes place at , 550 Almond Ave. in Los Altos.

 

4. Summer Reading Program: June 17-July 15

Run By: Institute of Reading Development Inc. through the

Ages: 4 years to eighth grade

Price: $299 plus $34 materials fee

Children who take this course become stronger readers and better students. They will learn increased reading speed, improved comprehension, study skills and a love of reading. Class hours are 9-10:15 a.m. Monday through Friday. Enroll a sibling and receive a $30 discount.

 

5. Camp EdTech: June 20-July 29

Run By: Edventure More (EdMo)

Ages: Entering grades five-nine

Price: Sliding scale based on the number of weeks you sign up for. Sign up by the end of April and your price per week will range from $457.33-$499 without extended care. After May 1, prices go up roughly $10 per week. Extended care is $30 per week for mornings and $60 per week for afternoons. Enroll in three weeks or more and receive 50 percent off extended care rates. Refer a friend and you both get a discount!

This unique camp is devoted to media arts. Do you have an aspiring photographer, graphic designer, animator or filmmaker in the family? If so, this camp is for you. Separate camps specialize in honing your child’s skills in the areas of digital photography, making movies, animation and graphic design. Sign up for one, or let your child take them all, as they alternate weeks! Camp hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and don’t forget “Family Fridays” where you can check out the amazing things your kid will make from 3-4 p.m. Extended care is available each day from 8-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. Camp takes place at Palo Verde Elementary School, 3450 Louis Road in nearby Palo Alto.
