If you haven’t yet made plans for Father’s Day, time is running out—it’s fast approaching on June 19! Not to worry, though—once again, Patch Picks comes to the rescue with five great ideas for fun things to do with Dad.

1. SECOND ANNUAL BYOB DAD’S DAY HIKE – Sunday, June 19

In this case, BYOB stands for “Bring Your Own Baby.” , a resource center for new and expecting parents in Palo Alto, is hosting its second annual Dad’s Day Hike at 10 a.m. on Father’s Day, and this event promises to be a gift for the whole family. The hike will be through the Picchetti Ranch Open Space Preserve. Mom can hang out at the Picchetti Winery while Dad and the kids get to some quality time together on the hike, led by Jonathan Bartlett, the leader of the Blossom Birth dad’s group. After the hike, bring a dish to share at the potluck, with special guests, Picchetti’s resident peacocks! Space is limited to 25 dads and their kids, so RSVP through the web link above soon. 2. DINNER AND A SHOW – Sunday, June 19

3. FATHER’S DAY CAMPOUT AT GILROY GARDENS – June 18-19

Gilroy Gardens theme park invites the entire family to celebrate Father's Day weekend at the park. Guests will be treated to an overnight family camp experience in the park’s South County Picnic Grove on Saturday; then on Sunday, enjoy the fun, excitement and learning that you can get only at Gilroy Gardens. This package deal includes three meals, park admission and a special camp activity. The cost is $45 per camper, or $35 for season pass holders.

 

4. ‘HATS OFF TO DAD’ AT ROARING CAMP – Sunday, June 19

For a truly unique Father’s Day, treat Dad to a ride on a real steam engine, a BBQ and live country music. There will also be a model train display to enjoy. Each dad will be honored with an authentic train engineer’s cap. Tickets are $17 for children and $24 for adults.

 

5. ‘HELIFEST’ AT HILLER AVIATION MUSEUM – June 18, 19

This is a brand new event for the Hiller Aviation Museum! HeliFest will showcase military and commercial helicopters, on display and open to the public for two full days. HeliFest also features fabulous food and wine, and the Bay Area's finest microbrews. And, while Mom and Dad get to enjoy those fine delectables, there will be the Kid's Zone, featuring slides, rides, face-painting and other fun activities that the kids are sure to love. Tickets range from $10-15, and kids age 4 and under are free.
