Los Altos Seen: Deadline Having Passed, Town Crier Staff Breaks Bread

What do you do after your weekly paper is printed and out on the newstands? Lunch, of course!

The rhythms of a weekly newspaper are predictable—and frenetic. The reporting, writing, designing builds to a crescendo until the paper is printed and it's out on the streets, in coffee houses and restaurants.

On Wednesdays, the pressure is off, and you get ready to do it all over again.

What next? At the Town Crier, which has chronicled the town's affairs for 64 years, you can break bread together before the long holiday weekend.

Seen here are publisher Paul Nyberg and a relaxed staff, including editor Bruce Barton. Staffers Elaine Clark on the left of Nyberg, and Christine Redden and Elliott Burr, on either side, gave up a smile, too.

And why not? They gathered at a new business that is getting a lot of pre-opening buzz, called Bumble. The restaurant, a "play cafe," which opens Labor Day weekend, was serving friends and family Wednesday. The Town Crier was Bumble's first outside customer.
