Los Altos/LAH Kicks Off 2012 Relay For Life Jan. 19

A focus on caregivers and survivors is new this year, reflecting the work of those who have been so intimately affected.

Relay For Life of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills 2012 kicks off on Thursday, January 19 from 6-7:30 p.m. at 4546 El Camino Real, in the conference room of State Farm Insurance.

“Past participants as well as anyone with a new interest in Relay For Life are invited to find out what’s new this year and sign up for Relay,” said Ray Skitt, event chair.

Early Bird Team Registration is free at the kick off and team captain kits will be available. Information will also be available about ways to volunteer for the event, as well as fundraising tips and sponsorship opportunities.

This year’s Relay will add a new focus on caregivers as well as on survivors.

Relay For Life is the signature fundraising program of the American Cancer Society. The 2012 event in Los Altos is scheduled for June 9-10 at Egan School.

Since the first local relay in June 2004, the community has raised nearly $3 million for the American Cancer Society to support research, education, advocacy and patient services.
