Helicopters Will Be Active Over Los Altos-Cupertino Border Thursday

Notice a lot of helicopters? Lehigh cement plant is allowing PG&E to use a parking lot so the utility company can clean power lines.

 

Helicopters will be flying around the hills above Los Altos and Cupertino Thursday and possibly Friday, as PG&E works to clean the insulators on power lines.

Lehigh Hanson Cement agreed to let the utility company use the parking lot outside the main gate of the Lehigh facility to refill the water PG&E will use to clean, according to Lehigh spokeswoman Sandy James.

Operations will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday and will continue for the rest of the day and perhaps Friday, Oct. 12," she wrote in a statement to the city of Cupertino. "It is unknown how many times they will have to land to re-fuel.” 

The cement plant is located in an unincorporated area of Santa Clara County between Cupertino and Los Altos.
