Group's Goal is 100 Los Altos and LAH Households Trying County's Free Water Use Evaluation

Greentown Los Altos offers first 25 entries in 'Water Wise' house calls to enter raffle for $100 native plant gift certificate.

With summer coming (we think) the Santa Clara Valley Water District's free Water Wise house calls is getting a boost from Greentown Los Altos.

The district (SCVWD) has always offered to come to a resident's house anywhere in Santa Clara County for free and evaluate how to cut water usage. Conducting a house call, SCVWD says on its website, "involves calculating water use, teaching you to read your water meter, surveying the irrigation system, and showing you simple ways to save water both inside and outside the home."

Greentown, which has identified water stewardship as one of its key goals, is trying to get 100 households in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills complete a Water-Wise House Call with a contest. To jump-start the effort, the first 25 homes to sign up will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate from a local native plants nursery. Native plants use less water to grow here.
