Why go: Support your local preschool and bring the kids for some pumpkin fun at this harvest festival, where pony rides and "gigantic" slides await you! Montecito Preschool will be serving free cake (while it lasts) to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Arts and crafts, music, a petting zoo and tons of food will be there, too.

2. PUMPKIN PATCH
Where/When: Los Altos High School, 201 Almond Ave., Los Altos; now through Oct. 31, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Where/When: , 430 Emerson St, Palo Alto; Saturday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and through Oct. 30
Why go: Come see documentary films from around the world, starting this weekend in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco and at Stanford University. The documentaries focus on issues of human rights, racism, the environment and more -- this year's theme is "Education is a human right." For a full schedule of the films, go to the UNAFF website.

4. KFJC's 52nd Anniversary Open House
Where/When: 12345 S. El Monte Ave., Los Altos Hills; Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. (campus parking lot fee is $2, coin or single bills)
Why go: Founded on Oct. 20, 1959, 89.7 FM is college radio at its finest, with a dedicated listenership, and well-earned envelope-pushing reputation. Long before "innovator" was a catchword thrown around Silicon Valley, KFJC was known for its new music line ups, and today, it's streaming from far-flung music events. Saturday, tour the station, with its huge library of music, meet the DJs and donate. It's up against four other college music stations for the "Most Adventurous" award, as participants of the CMJ 2011 Music Marathon & Film Festival vote in New York City this weekend. And what else can you say about a station that made the Wall Street Journal in 1983 with its 63-hour, 823-version, "Maximum Louie Louie" program?

Where/When: Fremont Hills Country Club, 12889 Viscaino Place; Sunday, Oct. 23, 3:00 – 6:00 pm
Why go: Town residents are invite to join Los Altos Hills Families (LAHF) for some Boo-liscous Fun! Parents, children, and teenagers are invited to a wear a costume, carving accessories, scoops and pumpkin decorations will be available for children of all ages, pumpkins will be available (while supplies last) and the pool is heated, and there will be volleyball and other games set up for teens. Light snacks will be provided and the Fremont Hills Poolside Grill will be open for sodas, beer, wine and heartier fare. RVSP is required for this event. Please visit: www.lahfamily.com
