Blue & Gold Balloons Mean 'Ask Me About Our Rotary Projects'

Saturday is Los Altos Rotary Day, and that means a downtown meet-up. Or, meet-and-greet, with anyone sporting blue and gold balloons.

No, the Cal band is not visiting. Saturday is the 108th anniversary of the founding of Rotary International service organization.

The group is using the occasion to spotlight about the concept of service in our community and to motivate people to get involved in a service project of their choice, said Carol Garsten, Chair of "Los Altos Rotary Day."

Members of Los Altos Rotary Club who will walking about the downtown area with blue and gold balloons from 2 to 5 p.m. Ask them about the projects, and if something attracts your interest, perhaps you will will be moved to volunteer.

Display tables will be located at Rotary Plaza (in front of Citibank), the Costume Bank, Nature Gallery, Adventure Toys and Linden Tree Books.

  • Partners for a New Generations (PNG) who tutor and mentor local students;
  • Child AIDS Prevention (CAP) in Africa
  • Partners for Elder Generations (PEG) benefitting local seniors
  • Veterans Welcome Home
  • solar cooking/ water purification in developing countries

Saturday has been proclaimed "Los Altos Rotary Day" by Mayor Jarrett Fishpaw of the City Los Altos and Mayor Gary Waldeck of the Town of Los Altos Hills.
