Weekend Planner: Spring (E-Waste) Cleaning, Family Sundays

Kick off your weekend downtown on the First Friday in April, do some spring (e-waste) cleaning and check out Family Sundays @Cantor, @SF MOMA (final month before they 'close').

FRIDAY

First Friday starts out April with some noticeable benefits. Now that Spring has sprung, the weather's warmer and we've all shifted to Daylight Saving Time, early evening strolling is a delight, especially with musicians plying the streets. Browse and shop at the open stores and galleries, many providing First Friday discounts, refreshments and beverages. There's a game, or course. While in the stores, search for hidden pictures and get a drawing entry. Among the musicians performing include: 37th Parallel, Plaka, Jazz Therapy, Los Altos High Music Group, and the Los Altos Chamber Orchestra.

Homestead High School Free E-Waste Collection Who hasn't been in a spring cleaning mood lately? Need more motivation? Help the Class of 2013 raise mone to celebrate graduation with verve. If you've got old devices hanging around, VHS tapes, old metal, and you missed Los Altos High School's e-waste collection, the Mighty Mustangs have you covered, near our southern border in Cupertino. (North Los Altans, just take a ride down Foothill Expressway to Homestead Road—it's undiscovered country!) 21370 Homestead Rd, Cupertino

Second Harvest Food Bank E-Waste Collection and Shredding Event This one is a fundraiser at the Antiochian Orthodox Church of the Redeemer, and it's mixture of free and paid e-waste disposal, but the rates are reasonable and you're doing a good deed (It also goes on an hour longer than Homestead's event). Free are televisions, monitors, laptops, Flat Screens, cell Phones, ink jet cartridges, and wire. All other electronics are $5 apiece and shredding services are $8 per bankers' box. 380 Magdalena Ave, Los Altos

Every Sunday, all kids 0 to 12 get free admission as moderators guide activities and docents lead family-friendly tours during Member Appreciation month. Adults are $18.
