State of the Valley 2013: How Does Technology Help Your Community Grow?

The annual conference looked at how innovation has and will continue to influence businesses, governments and community organizations.

 

The overarching theme of the State of the Valley 2013 conference held Friday in San Jose centered around how can communities use technology to plan for the future and provide better services to residents?

Keynote speakers included James Fallows, author and journalist and tech futurist Paul Saffo. Panelists included Emmett D. Carson, CEO of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Chris DiGiorgio, co-founder of Joint Venture Silicon Valley, State Sen. Mark DeSaulnier, William R. Dodge of Citistates Group, Michael Garvey, city manager of San Carlos, Kim Polese, chair of ClearStreet Inc., San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed, Jon Swartz, a USA Today tech reporter, Kara Swisher, executive editor of All Things D, Egon Terplan, of SPUR, and Susan Wojcicki, senior vice president of advertising at Google.
