Santa Clara County Gas Prices Expected to Fall

Prices at the pump should drop nationwide, according to recent reports.

Drivers in Santa Clara County should see relief at the gas pump after September’s gas prices were, nationally, the highest of the summer, according to a Marketwatch story on Monday.

Gas prices in the San Jose area on Wednesday were an average of $4.168 for regular unleaded fuel, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. That's far from our local high of $4.58 per gallon, set in June 2008, according to AAA. It's up slightly from one week ago, when it was $4.161, and a month ago, when it was $4.163.

The price fall has been blamed on a combination of Middle East oil politics, a seasonal drop in demand and a variety of other factors.

So tell us, where are you filling up these days? How much are you paying? Let us know in the comments!

Well, I just filled up Tuesday at the Arco on San Antonio and W. Middlefield Roads in Mountain View and it was still about $4.02. What else is everyone seeing?

I can remember when regular was $.29 cents a gallon at the Standard Station. Now its $4.25 at Chevron. Thats 1,465% gas inflation. Thats the price of not drilling for our own oil. The Seven Sisters used to own all the reserves now the foreign countrys do. Iran and Libya started it all then Saudi Arabia joined in on the fun. We lined up at the pumps and they lined up at the trough. Drill Baby Drill.

oil is fungible. the govt sells drilling rights to oil companies, everything else is in the market. oil pulled out of alaska is sold to egypt, because that is where the driller makes the contract. inflation is not a commodity supply issue, it is always a monetary issue. that is why the price of a can of soup has inflated at approximately the same rate.

Gas was so bad this summer. I would love a break, seriously.
