Halloween Contest Haunts Downtown Windows

Kids from Los Altos decorated business windows a part of a 48-year-old tradition. Judging will take place Sunday.

Los Altans showed their holiday spirit by painting—or helping their kids paint—spooky pictures on local business windows. The Halloween window painting contest began in 1963, and is put on by the Los Altos Recreation Department every year.

Kids in first through fifth grade are eligible for a prize, and judging will take place Sunday. The winners will be decided based on theme, artistic ability, composition and originality, said organizer Greg Milano.

Judges will be from the Public Sculpture Committee, City Council, Youth Commission and Park & Recreation Commission.
