Another 52-Unit Apartment Building on El Camino Real?

The project would be built across from McKelvey Park.

A 52-unit apartment building could be constructed across from McKelvey Park, Northern California developer Sares Regis Group announced Thursday.

The real estate company wants to propose the residential community for the 1100 block of West El Camino Real and they would hope to break ground June 2014 with completion estimated for December 2015. The project could impact discussions about the McKelvey Park redesigned and the Santa Clara Valley Water District's proposal.

"The project would transform this underutilized site, allowing residents to walk to transit, employment, retail, restaurant and services in downtown Mountain View and along the El Camino Real corridor," said Todd Regonini, chief development officer at Sares Regis Group of Northern California.

"In addition to respecting the evolving vision for El Camino Real outlined in the Grand Boulevard initiative, the new residences would be located across the street from McKelvey Park, and within walking distance of Eagle Park."

According to a statement released to the press, the project would reflect the work of California architect Irving Gill and include French doors, metal hand and balcony rails, and masonry accents will all contribute to an overall impression of elegance. The common areas would have bicycle storage, trees, and landscape features that also provide storm water treatment.

A publicist for Sares Regis Group told Patch that an application has been submitted to the City of Mountain View's Planning Commission.
