Your Time: What's a Terrible Adult Chamber Orchestra? Find Out

Several events are taking place this week this week, including art at the Senior Center, Los Altos High Football and Tuesday Tea at Little House, plus the 'Long Live Life' performance.

Where/When: Little House, 800 Middle Ave, Menlo Park, CA. Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Larry Hayes, founder/editor of Over 50 Magazine, will discuss the magazine and its six-year run to date. Hayes, 71, has built the magazine's readership to over 200,000 readers since he started. Don't miss this week's lecture/discussion at Little House!

Where/When: , 97 Hillview Ave, Los Altos, CA. Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to noon. 

Why Go: Try something new this week at the Senior Center. The Senior Center is offering an Art Studio program for those that want to express themselves through some various artistic media. This is open to all Senior Center members and is a great way to create something beautiful in a fun, relaxed environment.

Pricing: Free for members. 

Where/When: Retro Dome, 1694 Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA. Sunday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: "Long Live Life" presented by the Retro Dome in collaboration with the San José Chamber Orchestra and the National Jewish Theater Festival is an evening of affirmation and remembrance of the Jewish experience through music and text.  Performers include a string quartet from the San José Chamber orchestra, a pianist, and singers Stephen Guggenhiem, tenor, Layna Chianakas, mezzo-soprano, Allison Charney, soprano and Kevin Nakatani, bass. All the music was written by prominent composers while they were detained at the camp.

Where/When: , 201 Almond Ave, Los Altos, CA. Saturday, 1:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Still looking for win number one in 2011, the Los Altos High football team hosts Lynbrook High this Saturday at Los Altos High.  Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. in Los Altos. The Eagles fell 34-13 to Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton on Saturday to fall to 0-2 so far this fall. Lynbrook rolled past James Lick 49-6 to improve to 2-1 in non-league play.

Where/When:  , 97 Hillview Ave, Los Altos, CA 94022 (Social Hall). Sunday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Why Go: TACO is for playing music in a relaxed sociable setting. It doesn't matter if you haven't played in years or you're adult beginners who want to play with a group. Experienced musicians are also welcomed to play for fun. This is a place to play classical music for the joy of making music with a friendly group. Members bring their own instrument, music stand, and appetizers to share.
