2. Open Weekend at Hidden Villa

Why Go: In the summer time, Hidden Villa closes down to all but its campers. A few select weekends in July and August it opens to the public, including this one. And there's something new to see: Hidden Villa reports new piglets were born of Scarlet the Pig.

Why Go: The Sunnyvale Downtown Association and Broadcom team up for the 3rd annual Jazz & Beyond series, "A Musical Dining Experience." Legally Blue plays while you dine outside. Order from any of 20 downtown Sunnyvale restaurants. All brought to one table. The series began last week and will run for eight weeks starting Saturday July 9th, 2011, 5:30pm-8:30pm on Murphy Avenue. For more information call 408.516.7217.

4. Little Women presented by the Los Altos Youth Theater

Where / When: Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos / Fri & Sat, July 15 & 16, 7:30 p.m., Sun, July 18, 2 p.m.

Why Go: It's opening night Friday for this musical based on Louisa May Alcott's best-known work. Four sisters, growing up in Massachusetts during the Civil War. It's a great family show about a beloved classic, filled with period dances and song.

5. Redwood Grove Restoration Work Day

Where / When: Redwood Grove Nature Preserve, 482 University Ave, Los Altos / 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
