Get Out, Los Altos! Dance, Music, Theater and More

A dance recital, a concert, a play, and Sunset magazine's annual weekend celebration are among our suggestions to Get Out.

Where/When: , 12345 S El Monte Rd, Los Altos Hills, Friday, 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: This is the 25th anniversary performance of the Foothill College dance group under the direction of Bubba Gong. Gong has put together a cast of 100 dancers, guest artists and alumni dancers who will perform three special anniversary programs that are also a fundraiser for the dance program.

Where/When: , 655 Magdalena Ave. Saturday, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  

Why Go: The purpose of this dinner is to share information about working together in a multi-faith capacity to build a home for a local family through Habitat Silicon Valley's All Faiths House.

Pricing;  $12 adults/children under 6 free

Where/When: , 201 Almond Ave., Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: No need to go any further than our local high school to hear a first-rate chamber music performance from the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra. Benjamin Simon conducts and the program features clarinetist Teddy Abrams. The program includes  Grieg's "Holberg Suite," Mendelssohn's Octet (first movement), Finzi's "Five Bagatelles for Clarinet and String Orchestra," and Ogonek's "Window Watchers in a City of Strangers for String Orchestra."  

Pricing: $10 seniors; $15 adults, $5 students

Where/When: , 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos, Friday, Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: George and Charlotte Hay are touring the backwaters in 1953 when they end up involved in a case of mistaken identities and crazy adventures. Theater within the theater. You are sure to enjoy.

Pricing: $26 to $32

Where/When: Sunset Magazine headquarters, 80 Willow Rd, Menlo Park, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: This is Sunset Magazine's annual celebration and this one is set to be a winner. The weekend will include cooking tips from celebrity chefs, like Rick Bayless, Traci Des Jardins and Candace Nelson; a look at  the Safeway Outdoor Kitchen,  four daily wine seminars,  "make it your own" with workshops looking at things you can do as diverse as keeping backyard chickens or making your own home brew, and more, including live music.

Pricing: General admission, $16; seniors $12, children 12 and under, free
