Get Out, Los Altos: BBQ and Beer, the Tech And a Play

This weekend, prepare for grilling season with a BBQ and beer pairing cooking class, indulge in a free wine tasting, get free admission to The Tech, or get a jump on an antiques show and breakfast

Why Go: Try out this Summer BBQ Cooking Class and Beer Pairing with Kelly Fong. A tasty menu —Flo's  coleslaw, homemade BBQ beans, cherrywood smoked chicken, dry rubbed smoke tri tip with a chipotle honey sauce and grilled fruit with a caramel sauce. And beers to pair with the food. Is your mouth watering yet?

Why Go:  If it's June, it must be time for “Breakfast at Wimbledon.” The Los Altos  Museum is starting a new tradition to mark the Country Antiques & Folk Art Show’s start of its second 25 years. And how is this being done? With an Early Buy Breakfast (only $25 for Museum members) where you will get first dibs on wonderful antiques and folk art and breakfast (and Mimosas and Bloody Marys if you want to buy them). The show continues until 4 p.m. with 50 exhibitors from all over the country selling unique items to fit every budget, collection, or décor, accompanied by live banjo music.

Where/When: The Tech Museum of Innovation, 201 S Market St, San Jose, 95113 / Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Why go: The Tech Museum gives free admission six times a year through ScholarShare to explore how technology and science affect the way we live, work, play and learn. For a family, that's quite a savings. See the Tech's new Challenge Gallery and explore fun, interactive exhibits. Ride the Earthquake Platform, play with Robots. These days do not include admission to IMAX or to special exhibitions.

Why Go: This walk-around tasting event will give you a chance to sample L'Aventure's Bordeaux blends.

5. MOON OVER BUFFALO

Where/When: , 97 Hillview Ave., Thursday,  Friday, Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: George and Charlotte Hay are touring the backwaters in 1953 when they end up involved in a case of mistaken identities and crazy adventures. Theater within the theater. You are sure to enjoy.
