Get Out, Los Altos!

There are a lot of choices in Los Altos this weekend. Here's some of our picks for what you can do this weekend to get out!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here are five ideas for this weekend: Want to know how to deal with adversity in a positive way, leveraging it instead of being handled by it? Or,  join in a special musical celebration of, and for, women. There's also a ballet performance and a look at "bashert" (read down to find out just what bashert is!). So get going and get out in Los Altos this weekend.

Why Go: Learn to cook some Irish food from the best. And you can have some Irish beer paired for you with the Irish meal you will learn to cook. On the menu are Cutie, Avocado Mixed Green salad; Creamy Crème Fraiche Horseradish Mashed Potatoes; Southern Fried Buttermilk Chicken; Dijon Lemon Beans; and Mixed Berry Apple Pecan crumble.

Why Go: Get together with other women to celebrate the joy of song and music in a woman's circle of singing. Catherine Wanjohi of Kenya is a special guest. And don't worry, no singing or music-skills required or necessary to join in.

Why Go: Bashert has a special meaning in Yiddish—it  means "destined" or meant to be. This new play talks about bashert in love with 16 true stories gathered by local playwright Caryn Huberman Yacowitz. A reception follows.

Pricing: $25 in advance, $35 at the door.

Where/When: , 500 Castro St., Mountain View, Saturday, 8 p.m., Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: This is one of the Bay Area's up-and-coming dance companies. The performances will include the premiere of works by the company's artistic director, Charles Anderson.
