  • SINGING LESSONS
    Where/When: Hillview Community Center and Park, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos; all day Friday.

    Why go: Get ready for your next Karaoke party by learning the basics of singing and voice control with teachers from The Latimerlo Studio. Offered in conjunction with Belmont Park and Recreation.

  • BEER AND WINE TASTING
    Where/When: Whole Foods Market, Culinary Center, 4800 El Camino Real, Los Altos; Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    Why go: Sample the latest imported and domestic beers, and stimulate your palate with exclusive wines from selected vintners. Must be 21 or older.

  • ST. MICHAEL TRIO GALA
    Where/When: Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St., Mountain View; Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

    Why go: From Beethoven to the blues, witness the stunning artistry that has made this Silicon Valley threesome a national sensation. Presented by Nova Vista Symphony Association, the gala will include local celebrities and a post-concert reception with the artists.

  • HELP SAVE THE BAY
    Where/When: The Faber Tract (East Palo Alto); Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

    Why go: Help celebrate National Bird Day by volunteering with Save the Bay by restoring wetlands and planting native species of plants that provide shelter, food and nesting materials to get local birds through the winter.

    Price: Free. Because of the sensitive nature of the restoration site, space is limited, and volunteers are asked to fill out an advance online advance form. 510-463-6850.

 

  • WEEKEND FARM TOURS
    Where/When: Hidden Villa, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills; Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Why go: Enjoy a guided tours through a 1,600-acre organic farm and wilderness preserve. Visitors will have a chance to taste root, see a pig and learn connections between sweaters and sheep. Tours go rain or shine.
