Cheryl Burke and William Levy Salsa to the Top

The Mountain View dance studio owner and her partner had a little bit of an advantage with this number, since the latter is Cuban!

Monday night capped off another set of stellar performances in "Dancing With the Stars" raising the stakes for Cheryl Burke and partner William Levy.

Fortunately for them, Team Fuego's sizzling salsa to legendary Cuban performer Celia Cruz' "La Vida es un Carnaval," (translated to "Life is a Carnaval") got them the second highest judges' scores of the evening—a 28—and one vote shy of the waltz by Team Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas.

And while not the top spot, they continue to climb. Here's some of the reactions in the Twitterverse:

Tonight's the results show. Did you vote? Here's a plea from Burke, sent via her 's newsletter:

Dear fans, family and friends,

During the first show, William impressed the judges with his rhythmic Cha Cha. Next he performed the Quickstep, demonstrating his impressive, disciplined skill with one of the most demanding ballroom dance styles.

This week he showed his commitment to training with another Latin Dance, one of my favorite styles - and certainly one of his as well - Salsa!

The competition remains at an unprecedented high level. We may be doing well, but we are not taking anything for granted. Please do not forget to vote for us.

With love,
Cheryl

And while the voting is closed for now, next week follow these steps if you want to keep the Menlo-Atherton High School grad in the competition!
