5 Ways to Love Los Altos—Wednesday

Sign the kiddos up for Camp Candy Cane, meet the newest friends on the farm at Hidden Villa, make some tasty homemade holiday gifts with the kids, de-stress from all the holiday hustle and bustle, and get the blood flowing with some low-impact aerobics.

1. Christmas week can be a stressful time, as you finish your shopping, clean the house, prepare for visitors and much more. So, it's nice to know the Los Altos Recreation Department has your back—just send the kiddies to Camp Candy Cane! This fun, all-day holiday camp takes place from Dec. 20-23 at the , 97 Hillview Ave. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, your little ones will enjoy holiday-themed art projects, gift making, baking, music and even a surprise visit from You-Know-Who! Children are divided into separate camps for different age groups—there's Sugar Plums for ages 3½-5, Gumdrops for ages 5-7 and Gingersnaps for 8-10. 2. Hidden Villa is offering another chance to meet the farm's newest additions—a dozen adorable baby piglets, just born on Dec. 2! "This Little Piggy" will take place this Friday, 2:30-4 p.m., for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers to watch the babies as they cuddle and snuggle with their mama pig. Then, Teacher Stacey will take everyone over to the Duveneck House for cocoa and piggy story time and a pig-themed art and craft project they will be able to take home with them. It will be a real "piggy-palooza!" Register now before this event sells out, as only eight people can attend. 3. If you and your kids love making homemade gifts for loved ones during the holidays, has a truly unique class this weekend you won't want to miss. The "Kids Homemade Gift Making" class this Saturday will help you make a tasty, homemade gift in a jar for someone on your holiday list. Choose from Hot Chocolate Mix, Cinnamon Pancake Mix or Lavendar Bath Salt Mix. The kids will get to measure out all of the ingredients and add a recipe tag and ribbon at the end. There will also be fun cookie-decorating activities going on throughout the afternoon. This is a free event, with no registration required! 4. If you were too busy out to catch the first one, don't despair—will offer a second Stress-Free Holiday Lunch Meditation Thursday, from noon to 1 p.m. Join Andria Wagner for a guided healing and meditation hour, focused on bringing more peace and clarity into your busy day. A variety of meditation styles will be offered, from yogic and buddhist practices to angelic and pranic healing techniques. The meditations will focus on clearing space in the mind and heart, as well as improving energy levels to promote better health by reducing stress and tension.
