5 Ways to Love Los Altos—Friday

Make plans to hear a holiday concert, support schools at a fun holiday fair, catch a festive theater production before it closes, dance the night away with local singles, and make a holiday card for a local veteran.

1. Make plans for a free concert on Sunday. The California Youth Symphony, under the direction of Leo Eylar, will present a free holiday concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Foothill College. The repertoire includes seasonal and holiday favorites. During the concert, the symphony will conduct a toy drive for the non-profit organization, Sunday Friends, to help families in need in the South Bay. For more information, call 650-325-6666 or visit cys.org.

2. Find some one-of-a-kind gifts for the holiday season and help raise money for our schools! Stop by the Egan School Holiday Faire today, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. More than 300 seventh- and eighth-graders will sell homemade crafts, gift items and foods in a whopping 170 booths. This fair raises much-needed funds for the school library and teaches students valuable entrepreneurial and service skills. Egan Junior High School is at 100 W. Portola Ave. in Los Altos. For more information, call Elena Shea at 650-947-7432, e-mail elena@thesheas.us or visit eganschool.org.

3. There's just one week left to catch a performance of at the , 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos. It's Christmas Eve in the tiny town of Tuna, TX, and 22 zany citizens—who are, amazingly, all played by two talented actors—attempt to celebrate their usual Yuletide traditions in this, the latest installment of the Tuna plays. This production closes on Dec. 18, so see it now while you can! Ticket prices range from $24-$32. For more information, call the Bus Barn box office at 650-941-5070 or visit busbarn.org.
