ViewFinder: The Farmers Market is Back

The Farmers Market in downtown Los Altos kicks off the season with piñatas on a very warm Cinco de Mayo. Can summer be far away?

A conch shell trumpets through State Street in downtown Los Altos on a hot Thursday afternoon.  This call announces the official opening of the Farmers' Market, which will be open every Thursday through September from 4:30 to 8 p.m.  The opening day featured piñatas, cooking demonstrations, live music, and of course, produce.  The mayor of Los Altos, Ron Packard, dropped by to cut the celebratory ribbon, to signify the beginning of the Thursday evening Farmers Market.

Festive red, white green balloons were hung from umbrellas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  Children were also able to gather candy from 4 piñatas over the course of the event.  Face painting was also available to market-goers.
