Community Corner

ViewFinder: Sweet Shop

This neighborhood treasure supports schools through sweets.

Children of all ages flock to the corner of Los Altos and Loucks avenues seeking sweets and refreshments.  Employees, many of which are current students or graduates of the surrounding schools, serve the children ice cream. Sweet Shop began serving the Los Altos and Palo Alto community in August 2009.

After the shops bills are paid, all the proceeds go to Los Altos schools, tips included.  Visitors can purchase coffee, baked goods, frozen yogurt, and a wide selection of candy.  Around 3, the shop is filled with elementary schoolers from the area and high schoolers as far as Gunn will pay a visit.

Founder Stacy Sullivan frequented the store as a kid when it was a mini-mart, and bought candy on her way home from school. She continues the past-time by selling candy and a favorite of hers, frozen yogurt.
