Enjoy a day at the races!
The Stanford District Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Races are set Saturday, May 10 from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Los Altos Hillview Community Center, and the public is invited.
Sponsored by Red Racer Hobby Shop in Los Altos, the race day has an "outlaw" division open to all ages. Registration is not required; participants can just show up -- with a car -- for the outlaw races from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cars can be borrowed from the scouts, or kits can be purchased from Red Racer at 170 State St. in Los Altos, according to organizers.
The Cub Scout Pack District races will be from noon to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Scouts must register and submit their cars by May 1 -- Thursday -- to compete. Emails should be sent to stanfordcubscouts@gmail.com.
